Hidden Fields

© Enikő Gábor

The exhibition Hidden Fields is the result of an artistic research project developed over several years, reinterpreting the figures, instruments, and visual structures of psychological tests through the language of analogue and early photographic processes.

Through the works on display, Enikő Gábor explores how we attempt to systematise and quantify the human being – and what, in the process, inevitably remains beyond our grasp. Some of the works were created using early photographic processes that evoke the very beginnings of photography: cameraless images formed directly on photographic paper, as well as photographs made on hand-coated, light-sensitive surfaces and brought into being by sunlight.

Through the photographic series in Hidden Fields, analogue processes emerge as far more than traditional techniques rooted in the past. Their inherent materiality and cultural significance offer a distinctive way of reflecting on the fundamental dynamics of human perception and thought.
