Když vidím postupné etapy hledání Michała Konrada, cítím, že stojí pevně na rozbité slezské půdě. Doslova stojí na skalách, vytažených z jejích hlubin na povrch. Zde se odehrává jeho vidění světa. V tomto konceptuálním vyprávění pochází scenérie ze znásilnění přírody, které je výsledkem těžby uhlí. V těchto izolovaných prostorách autor hledá bájný meteorit, který měl spadnout někde v Horním Slezsku, v autoportrétu experimentuje s vlastním tělem a neustále si klade otázky. Portrétováním sebe sama vstupuje do vesmíru lidské přirozenosti omylu, rozpolcenosti mezi kůží, která se tak snadno prořízne, a brutálním prostředím nasyceným ostrými hranami. Krajina, v níž je lidská bytost fragmentem, doplňkem.

When I see the gradual stages of Michał Konrad’s search, I feel that he is standing firmly on the battered Silesian soil. He literally stands on rocks pulled from its depths to the surface. This is where his vision of the world takes shape. In this conceptual narrative, the scenery emerges from the ravaging of nature as a result of coal mining. In these isolated spaces, the artist searches for a mythical meteorite that is said to have fallen somewhere in Upper Silesia, experimenting with his own body in self-portraits and constantly asking questions. By portraying himself, he delves into the universe of human nature, exploring error and ambivalence, balancing between skin that can be so easily cut and a brutal environment filled with sharp edges – a landscape in which man is merely a fragment, a complement.
