Pavel Vavroušek začal fotografovat ve třiadvaceti díky svému kamarádovi Pavlu Štechovi. Jejich chaty v Hlásné Třebani byly kousek od sebe a bratři Pavel a Josef Vavrouškovi se s Pavlem Štechou kamarádili od dětství. Štecha po absolvování zeměměřičské průmyslovky vystudoval FAMU, kde posléze učil. Od počátku se soustředil na dokumentaristickou momentku. Také Pavel Vavroušek od prvních snímků fotografoval lidi. Připadalo mu to přirozené.
Pavel Vavroušek started taking photographs at the age of twenty-three thanks to his friend Pavel Štech. Their cottages in Hlásná Třeban were a short distance from each other, and the brothers Pavel and Josef Vavroušk had been friends with Pavel Štecha since childhood. Štecha graduated from FAMU, where he later taught, after graduating from the surveying industrial school. From the beginning, he focused on the documentary snapshot. Pavel Vavroušek also photographed people from his first pictures. It felt natural to him.
